BILL DRUMMOND

SEVENTEEN EXHIBITIONS
BIOGRAPHY
Bill Drummond's (b.1953) practise can be viewed as an ongoing and personal examination of the cultural landscape, spanning thirty years of investigation. Drummond's work manifests itself in a diverse array of tactics, ranging from using the written and spoken word in the form of books, websites and performance and also specific art objects. A divergent and interwoven array of media can be viewed as Drummonds art practise, despite the fact that a large proportion of works and actions are released anonymously, unrecorded, and often without any (traditional) art contextualisation.
Drummond's latest performance work, The17, will be performed over a series of dates at the gallery in November 2007. Tickets are free of charge but attendance is limited to a fixed number, so please contact the gallery for dates and availability.
Drummond's series of actions not only seek to investigate and examine the surrounding cultural geography but also converse and interact with it. His performance works have taken form as numerous seminars and lectures that necessitate an interaction with the viewer and position the artist as a central force for inquiry. His instigation of actions and their resulting effect on the world can often be undocumentable, however his written words include the following books: The Manual (1989), Bad Wisdom (1996), 45 (2000), and How To Be An Artist (2002), The Wild Highway (2005), his websites include: www.nomusicday.com, www.mydeath.net, www.youwhores.com, www.openmanifesto.com, www.the17.org
